Toilet training???
I work is there an easier way to toilet train my 12 week old pug when i work full time... people say crate, but i work from 8am -5pm and think it is way to long to leave a puppy in a crate - i put her with my other dog so she is not lonely while i am at work (recommended by my breeder) - but the training thing is getting harder for me as my other dog is going on the newspaper too because of the puppy! Any suggestions???

- I know what you mean, we just bought a 2 month old yorkie and we have a 10 month old that was potty trained until we got her. I found out that putting them together made my 10 month old potty everywhere just like the new one did. While we are at school they are in seperate rooms. It helps but the rest of the time it's a jungle. We started litter box training this last week, so far it's been the best option. Maybe you should look into it also. I'm not far enough in it to tell you it worked, but so far so good!
- I thought I had but by reading your last sentences I don't . When I got my puppy I already had a male dog, so she follow him, instead of him following her. So now they are both trained. So really I have no way to help because usually the dominating dog is the one the puppy follows in your case is the other way around. Sorry.
- section off a part of the room with .like a little pen, for the puppy and the papers...that way it wont be in a crate, and the other dog wont have access to the papers..
- Is leaving them outside while your at work not an option? It really does help if both are going on newspaper. Start with the kitchen floor half covered in paper, then three days later go for only 1/4. Then, three or four days later go for half of that. Still, you need to be able to reward the puppy when it goes outside. Having access during the day to the backyard would make it alot easier.
- Crate. Crate. Crate. Dogs will be fine in their crates for that amount of time. My dog trainer crates his dog for well over half a day. Be sure to crate the dog ESPECIALLY if the puppy's having negative effects on the older dog. It's better to crate the dog now than have a BIG problem on your hands!
- Well your first problem is that you are trying to TOILET train your dog. Dogs don't use toilets. Yes, I am just being facetious. Why would you get a puppy when you work a full time job? Puppies needs LOTS of training and attention that you obviously don't have time to give.
- best set up i ever had is doggie door and fenced yard. and i still crate when im out and at night. but i come home at lunch time and let them out.:) maybe you or a family member can come home midday?
- I USE CRATES.NOTHIN WRONG WITH IT. HELPS OUT A WHOLE LOT AS FAR AS HSE BREAKIN.YOU ARE ABOUT TO GET YOURSELF INTO DEFACATED HOLE.THAT YOUR NOT GOING TO BE ABLE TO CLEAN YOURSELF OUT OF.GET MORE ADVISE ON CRATE TRAINING IT WORKS SWEET HEART.AND YOUR KIND OF IMPATIENT THIS PUP IS 3 MONTHS OLD THEY REALLY DON'T START TO CONTROL THERE BLADDERS UNTIL 5 TO 6 MONTHS.I 'LL CRATE HIM ASAP.
- there are two ways to potty train a dog: 1) let it pee/poop outside. bring it to potty before you sleep or go some place. 2) let it do its business on a housebreaking pad or a newspaper tie up your dog next to the pad.. when my doggie was a pup, we built a big cage with its bed and a pad. maybe you should do that or potty train it with a pad or on grass. if you do pad, your dog might miss the pad and accidentally poo or pee on the floor. so i suggest you try the grass. i study dogs with my sis. there's only one problem with our dog. but it's a BIG problem.
